Your gifts to the Houston Afghan Resettlement Fund will be distributed to four social service agencies with decades of experience in working with refugees and other newcomers to our community: The Alliance, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston, and the YMCA of Greater Houston International Services.
Your help is needed as we approach a total of 6,000 Afghan arrivals!
The Alliance welcomes and empowers those who face financial, educational, health, language or cultural barriers to realizing their dreams. The Alliance offers a broad range of social services to create opportunities for refugees, immigrants, and other underserved residents to attain their goals for self-sufficiency and improve their quality of life.
Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston
Catholic Charities brings help and hope to families and individuals through its network of life-changing programs that work together to alleviate poverty. Program services help people achieve self-sufficiency and live with dignity. We are guided by the Catholic faith to serve people of all beliefs and backgrounds.
Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston
A United Way agency, Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston brings people of diverse faith traditions together for dialogue, collaboration and service, as a demonstration of our shared beliefs. Interfaith Ministries’ Refugee Services program, in conjunction with the U.S. State Department and Episcopal Migration Ministries, resettles hundreds of refugees in Houston annually.
The YMCA of Greater Houston was founded 135 years ago as a place where all people could find hope, fellowship, and healing. Today we are actively and visibly improving outcomes for all by working side-by-side with our neighbors to support critical community needs. Together we can create opportunity and change futures by restoring hope and building stability for our newcomers.
